Punjabi Cuisine

The most famous and widely consumed cuisine all over India is the cuisine from the lush green state of Punjab. Wheat, being the number one produce of the state, is used in a number of Indian breads here such as roti, paratha, naan, kulcha, bhatura, etc. Ghee is another ingredient that makes it to almost all Punjabi recipes. Signature Punjabi dishes include Chhole Bhature, Rajma Chawal, Dal Makhni, Sarson Da Saag and Makki Di Roti, Aloo Paratha, etc. A lot of Punjabi recipes have found their way into menu cards all over India. Dhabas, in fact, are like motels that originated in Punjab to serve hot Punjabi khana to truck drivers to offer solace to them in their long, tedious journeys. Punjab, thus, has played a major role in shaping up Indian cuisine.
