Tamil Cuisine

One of the most colourful and flavoursome cuisines comes from the Southern end of IndiaTamil Nadu. A delectable blend of sweet, spicy, sour and tangy, the 'Thamil Unavu' has plenty to offer. Coconut finds its presence across almost all recipes thanks to its abundance throughout the coastline of the state. Other major ingredients used are Rice, Haldi and Imli. A wholesome Tamil thali 'Sappadu' consists of a range of tasty Tamil delicacies and is traditionally served on banana leaf. An elaborate variant of this platter called 'Virundhu Sappadu' is enjoyed during festivals and ceremonies. This mega treat involves a never-ending array of tasty dishes such as Poriyal, Curry, Varuval, Pachadi, Payasam, Rasam, Sambar, Thokku, Vadai, Appam, Rice, Kuzambu along with a few sweets, buttermilk, and fruit.
