Trivia Tadka
Lapsi is a sweet dish popular in western India, especially in Gujarat. It is a simple dish made of dalia mixed with sugar and cardamom. It is often made to mark festivals and is considered a healthy dessert.
Ingredients
- Broken wheat (dalia) (½ cup)
- Sugar (½ cup)
- Green cardamom (hari elaichi) powder (½ tbsp)
- Ghee (3 tbsp)
- Almond (badam), slivered (3)
- Pistachio (pista), slivered (3)
Method
- In a kadhai, heat the ghee and add the dalia to it. Cook the mixture on a slow flame till it has turned golden brown.
- Next, add in 2 cups of warm water and keep cooking on a high flame till the water has come to boil. Keep stirring continuously, till the dalia has turned soft.
- Then, add in the sugar and the elaichi powder. Continue cooking on a low flame till the ghee has begun to separate.
- Serve hot, garnished with almond and pistachio slivers.
